Share on FacebookFive months ago I was laid off from my job as a Sales Engineer for a publicly traded software company. Although I was putting finishing touches on PinchCoach.com's youth sports management portal at the time, the process of prematurely entering into the world of entrepreneurship is always a frightening one. Soon after the layoff, I evaluated my career path and discovered that, to this point, everything I've done from a career perspective has been to increase other companies' earnings per share. Even my greatest career contributions have done little more than earn more money for company shareholders. That retrospection led to the adoption of the PinchCoach.com Community Pledge. Simply stated, we will contribute a portion of our sponsorship proceeds back to the community in the form of youth sports scholarships and grants that directly benefit economically disadvantaged children and youth sports leagues. With the nation's jobless rate at a 26-year high, stories like Elkhart, Indiana's Rally to Save Youth Sports bear testimony to why we do what we do. The residents of towns like Elkhart look economic adversity square in the eye to ensure that children will continue to reap the rewards of youth sports involvement. Unfortunately, not every organization has had the combination of luck and fortitude that Elkhart's youth baseball program has observed. Many continue to cut back, and it is times like these that we at PinchCoach.com hope to be able to make a difference.Labels: charity, community, economy, Elkhart, unemployment, youth baseball, youth sports

Share on Facebook The Town & Country 10U Blue Jays (a PinchCoach.com client) played an absolutely ugly game of baseball in the Division Semi-Finals yesterday, with a 5-7 win over the Yankees. The Jays overcame a four-run deficit, putting up a final stand on both sides of the plate to assure their slot in the Finals.
In the third inning, the intricacies of Town & Country's pitching rules required a last-minute change in the rotation, along with a completely on-the-fly lineup for that inning. As the coaches scrambled furiously to create a lineup that was as fair as it was effective, we got a first-hand glimpse into the power and value of the PinchCoach.com solution.
With PinchCoach.com, coaches have instant access to innings played, innings sat, infield/outfield percentages and other "fair play" statistics, as well as a comprehensive set of performance-based statistics, over any web-enabled device. An automated Lineup Manager rounds out the mix, guiding the coach through the process of assigning positions to avoid duplicates, gaps and other administrative pitfalls.
At the end of the day, the Blue Jays have a great set of volunteers and an even greater set of kids playing. PinchCoach.com was an effective tool in helping the coaches identify the best opportunities for each of their players to shine, ultimately helping them throughout their run for the Title.Labels: baseball, baseball statistics, Town and Country Optimist, youth baseball, youth sports, youth sports software
